John Quitter, an integral part of the General Die team, has been contributing to the success of our Engineering department since October 2003. As our Engineering Manager, John brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, making him a key player in our organization.
Educational and Career Journey
John's journey in the manufacturing industry is nothing short of remarkable. Starting as a Journeyman tool and die maker, he transitioned into engineering in 2008, and he hasn't looked back since. His expertise lies in tooling engineering.
Throughout his tenure at GDC, John has been a dedicated member of the Engineering department. Over the years, his roles have evolved, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the company's success.
No two weeks are the same for John. His typical work week involves designing, repairing, and troubleshooting a diverse array of challenges. His adaptability and problem-solving skills make him an indispensable part of our dynamic work environment.
Skills and Contributions
John is well-versed in all tool room machines and has worked with various materials, including zinc and aluminum alloys. He enjoys die cast simulations and the design process for making new parts and dies.
One area that John takes pride in is his contribution to casting simulation development and interpretation here at GDC. His innovative approaches have elevated our processes and set new standards in the industry.
John has witnessed significant changes in the industry, particularly the increasing integration of robotics and technology. He notes the decline in skilled workers in process and tooling, emphasizing the need for continued innovation and adaptation.
More About John Beyond the Office
When he's not immersed in the world of engineering, John enjoys soccer refereeing and fishing. He is a proud fan of Liverpool and supports all three Cleveland sports teams. These activities provide a well-deserved break from the challenges of the manufacturing world.
Originally aspiring to be a veterinarian as a child, John's journey may not have taken him in that direction, but it certainly led him to a fulfilling and impactful career in engineering. He resides south of Akron, sharing his life with three grown children and two granddaughters.
John Quitter's dedication, expertise, and passion for innovation continue to drive our Engineering department forward.
We are very fortunate and proud to have him as a part of the GD Casting Family
